There are two types of intelligence –

  1. Non-verbal intelligence refers to the capacity of a child to understand and resolve problems that are abstract. These can be decisions based on the concepts of space and time.
  2. Verbal Intelligence is the ability of a student to solve and grasp issues resulting from language and likewise concerns.

IQ tests for students are the assessment of a student’s current intellectual functioning through the completion of various tasks designed to evaluate various types of reasoning. Standardized testing with norm-referenced tests is commonly used to determine the IQ level of a child.

One of the most well-known types of normed testing is IQ tests. They draw parallels between the regular skill levels of students on the same age spectrum.

  1. Group Intelligence Tests: Group achievement tests, which are used to evaluate the academic abilities of children, can even take cognitive measures into consideration. These IQ tests for kids are administered as paper booklet tests and via scanned scoring sheets. Group tests are a useful screening measure in determining the need for further testing and provide valuable data on a child’s academic history. These tests are not advised when trying to identify an especially abled child.

Some IQ test questions for kids in the WISC test are on the topics of language, symbols, and performance, whereas the Stanford-Binet test is used to identify students with cognitive disabilities.
  3. Non-Verbal Intelligence Tests: The Comprehensive Test of Nonverbal Intelligence (CTONI) is one such non-verbal test, where the IQ level of a child is tested based on the language processing and English proficiency. Importance of intelligence test in education:

  • IQ tests for kids are taken in order to gain a better perspective on a child’s ability to perform academically, to understand the expectations to have from the student, and to evaluate his/her needs.
  • To either prove or negate the existence of learning ailments and to diagnose any intellectual disabilities.
  • To receive valuable input on the problem-solving capabilities of children based on their age group and test administered.
  • To help teachers and educators create suitably designed instructions and educational plans as per the requirements of individual students.

How To Raise The IQ Level Of A Child:

Most parents want to see their children succeed and reach heights beyond their imaginations, but there might arise some disparity in expectations once the IQ level of a child is established. In order to increase the IQ level of a child, you may follow these steps:

  1. Active Learning
Learning through one’s own experiences can be one of the most effective forms of learning. Active learning enables children to learn by touching and feeling their surroundings. They learn better and can constantly keep updating their knowledge. This form of learning can seldom be achieved in a classroom.
Exposure to real-world experiences will enhance their intellectual capabilities, as they will have to solve problems in real-time and across a vast number of areas. The more a child is made to think, the more the IQ level of a child increases.
  2. A Proper Diet
The increased pace of life and the availability of junk food at every nook and corner had had an adverse effect on the diet of children. Pizzas and burgers also have a tendency of being tastier than a balanced, nutritional diet consisting of the right number of vitamins, fats, and carbohydrates.
A proper diet comes with numerous benefits, such as enhanced concentration and physical and mental strength. Parents need to pay close attention towards their children’s diet and ensure they are receiving the required amounts of zinc, Iron, and Iodine. In addition, children should be encouraged to keep hydrated. The addition of dry fruits and food rich in iron such as spinach and broccoli can be supplemented to achieve overall nutrition.
  3. Sports and Games
While asking how to raise the IQ level of a child, consider enrolling your tiny tot in a sport of their liking. Needless to say, the importance of sports and games for children is imperative. Games play a key role in increasing a child’s intelligence and activity level. Games allow children to learn about a variety of subjects while also solving problems in order to win. Indulge your child in puzzles and block games. Encourage children to learn to play chess. You can also engage in a memory game with your child. These are extremely beneficial in raising the IQ level of a child.
When children play these games, their brain activity increases because they are constantly required to think and solve problems. Parents can also enroll their children in various online games and activities.
  4. Learning to Play a Musical Instrument
Playing a musical instrument increases brain activity, thereby increasing children’s intelligence. This method is supported by science, as MRI scans show that when a child plays a musical instrument, brain functioning improves.
Thus, enrolling your child in an instrument-playing class is a great idea. Choose a class based on your child’s interests. If a child does not find the class interesting, no matter what process you use, no results will be obtained.
